Whats In Your Spray Bottle?
Check out this list of all the great things you can put in your spray bottle. These items can be your "Liquid" as part of your L.O.C (Liquid.Oil.Cream) Regimen. They each provide vital nourishment for your curls. If your hair is parched, just spray a bit of this on your curls. Taking out a protective style? Using a water based moisturizer will help with a low shedding take down. Hair itching? Dealing with flakes? Each of theses home made, and semi home made cocktails will leave your curls happy, moist, and healthy. I dive into the main ingreditnts, that should be in your spray bottle. Add your preferred oils to your mix, along with one of these moisturizers:
Leave In Conditioner
A leave in is slightly different from the rinse out conditioners you use when co-washing. The Molecules in a leave in conditioner are small enough to penetrate the hair shaft. The small molecules deposit moisture in the hair, leaving your hair moist, soft, and conditioned. Conditioners contain fatty alcohols, and nut oils that leave hair manageable. Leave in Conditioners can be watered down, and paired with nearly any oil in a spray bottle for a perfect curl refresher, and the Liquid in your L.O.C Regimen
Rinse Out Conditioner
Similar to Leave in conditioners, A rise out conditioner contains good alcohols for you hair. The molecules in a rise out conditioner are too large to deposit into the hair. Instead the conditioner sits on top of your strands, trapping moisture, and depositing vital oils, and minerals that boost your hair's health, and leave an instant shine. Dilute with water or another moisturizer for the best results.
Aloe Gel
Some chemicals in aloe gel seem to be able to increase circulation in the tiny blood vessels in the skin, as well as kill bacteria. Just another reason to add a squirt of aloe gel in your spray bottle.Aloe Gel is the substance found in the fleshy portion of the leaf, it literally looks like a gel, its gooey and sticky. Aloe Gel can be added to you spray bottle, mixed with your preferred oils. Acting as a conditioner, and moisturizer, aloe, is a great addition to your spray bottle.
Aloe Juice
The juice is found in the leaf, just under the skin of the leaf. It has the same benefits of Aloe Gel, but in a watery consistency. If you have a sensitive, or sore scalp, aloe can help! Aloe might cause changes in the skin that might help diseases like psoriasis. Aloe seems to be able to speed wound healing by improving blood circulation through the area and preventing cell death around a wound. I recommend using cooled aloe if your braids are too tight, or your scalp is irritated.
Water
Your Hair's #1 Moisturizer. There is not too much I can say about water. You Hair needs water to be healthy. This is the Must Have ingredient in your spray bottle mix. You bottle should contial 70-80% water, combined with another moisturizer and oil.
Coconut Water
Coconut water is rich in antioxidants. Coconut water is rich in Potassium, Glucose, Vitamin B and Vitamin C. Massaging your scalp with the coconut water helps fight hair breakage, and dryness. It also helps in promoting the hair growth. It’s a great natural conditioner as well. Coconut water is a fruity way to add moisture to you hair.
Rose Water
Rosewater is really a fragrant solution obtained from rose petals. You can mix rose water with vitamin E, jojoba oil,or your preferred oils, for a fragrant & moisturizing spray for curls. It can help prevent hair loss, as well as, improve blood circulation within the scalp. Proper circulation delivers blood and nutrient supply towards the hair roots, thereby nourishing and strengthening the hair follicles, promoting healthier hair. Additionally, rose water helps treat inflammation around the scalp as it has therapeutic properties.
